Hello, there

Hello, there! I acknowledge that it has been quite a while since my last post.  so much has happened, and I'm embarrassed to say that its paralyzed my productivity on the blog a bit.  Let's see...where to begin?

I love when life has unexpected twists, but this twist came from somewhere further than left field.  In June, Bruce joined the Navy and left for boot camp (that's right, my husband, at the ripe old age of 30 decided to join the military).  The week he left, I frantically packed up our newlywed nest and shoved everything into a storage container my mother so graciously let me park in her backyard.  I also moved into one of her spare bedrooms. While I missed my husband dearly, my consulting work picked up, and I added a network of local charter schools here in New Jersey to my portfolio.  Last week, we received verbal orders to Virginia, and that's when 'ish got real.  Since then, I've been researching military housing, rules around decorating as well as off-base housing and the best neighborhoods to live in. This morning, I got a lovely distraction when I came across some of the collections from this year's NYFW.  It seems navy blue was everywhere.  How fitting.

It seems a little ridiculous to say that navy blue is a trend this fall, mostly because navy blue is timeless--It's never not in style.  Its crisp, classy and so polished, and it will forever be a great substitute for black.  I came across some great navy interiors.

I love how navy walls can be so moody.

My favorite has got to be super high gloss walls.

I don't think I'd ever be brave enough to do navy blue walls--they are a little too dark for me.  I would prefer pops of blue.

Here are other rooms/vignettes that made me smile today.

I'm now re-energized.  Back to researching I go!

P.S Does anyone have any suggestions on great neighborhoods to live in the Norfolk area?  Also, if there are any Navy wives out there willing to share their experience PCSing I'd be appreciative!
